Italy holiday destinations for Families

1. Rome

A family trip to Rome feels like stepping into the past, but with a lot of pizza! The moment you arrive, you can feel how old and amazing the city is.

Getting to Rome is easy, whether you fly into Leonardo da Vinci Airport or take a train from another city in Italy.

Once you’re there, it’s best to use buses or trains to get around. They’re cheap, quick, and much easier than driving in the busy streets.

Rome is actually a really fun place for kids, even though it’s full of history.

We bought tickets online before we got there, and I highly recommend doing that because the lines can be super long, especially when it’s busy.

Trust me

Long line + kids = no fun for anyone!

We also took a tour, and the guide told us cool stories about gladiators and life in ancient Rome that made it even more exciting.

When it comes to food in Rome, everything tastes great!

There’s pizza and pasta everywhere, and it’s just as yummy as you’d expect.

Plus, we made sure to get gelato every day – it was like a fun tradition! Rome has the perfect mix of learning new things, exploring cool places, and eating great food, so the whole family will enjoy it.

2. Venice

Visiting Venice with your family feels like being in a fairy tale.

The whole city is built on water, and instead of cars, people travel by boat! My kids were amazed as soon as we got there.

We started our trip with a gondola ride through the canals, and the look on their faces was unforgettable.

There’s something special about floating on the water, passing by old buildings, and watching the city come alive around you.

One of our favorite things to do was walk around the small streets and cross the many bridges.

Every corner we turned felt like a new adventure.

We found little shops selling handmade masks, ate tasty gelato, and visited Piazza San Marco, where the kids had a blast feeding the pigeons.

Venice is not only full of amazing things to see, but it’s also a great place to relax and enjoy the special feeling of the city.

We made sure to eat pizza and pasta whenever we could—because who can say no to that?

Getting In :

Getting to Venice is easy! If you fly, you’ll probably land at Marco Polo Airport, which is near the city.

From the airport, you can take a water taxi or a vaporetto (water bus) to get right into Venice.

It’s a fun way to start your trip, and the kids really enjoyed the boat ride.

If you’re coming from another city in Italy, you can take a train to Venice Santa Lucia station, which is right by the canals.

From there, it’s a quick boat ride to the middle of Venice. The whole trip feels like an adventure!

3. Florence

A family trip to Florence feels like stepping into a real-life museum.

There’s something beautiful to see everywhere, like amazing statues, tall buildings, and famous art.

But Florence isn’t just for adults—it’s a fun place for kids too! My family loved walking through the narrow streets and finding cool surprises around every corner.

The kids were amazed by the big dome of the Florence Cathedral, known as the Duomo.

We even climbed to the top! The view from up there was amazing, and seeing the whole city below made the climb totally worth it.
Another fun place we visited was the Boboli Gardens, where we had a picnic and let the kids run around.

It’s a big park with statues, fountains, and cool paths to explore.

We also had to see the famous statue of David at the Galleria dell’Accademia.

Even though my kids didn’t know much about the art, they were amazed at how big and lifelike the statue was.

After all the exploring, we enjoyed some delicious gelato—because you can’t go to Italy without trying gelato!

The main train station, Santa Maria Novella, is right in the city, so you can easily walk or catch a bus to your hotel.

Florence is small, so walking is one of the best ways to explore the city, and there are fun surprises for families all around!

4. Lake Garda

A family trip to Lake Garda is a fun adventure full of beautiful sights! The lake is surrounded by amazing mountains and cute towns, making it a great place for everyone.

One of our favorite things to do was take a boat ride across the lake.

The kids loved feeling the wind in their hair and seeing little islands as we passed by.

We even stopped in towns like Sirmione, where we explored old castles and enjoyed yummy gelato!

The beaches at Lake Garda are perfect for families! We spent sunny days building sandcastles, swimming, and relaxing by the water.

There are lots of parks and playgrounds nearby, so the kids had fun playing while we enjoyed the pretty views.

One of our favorite things to do was visit a local farm.

There, we saw all kinds of animals, like cows, goats, and chickens.

The kids had a great time feeding the chickens and learning how fruits and vegetables grow.

We also got to pick fresh strawberries and tomatoes right from the plants! It was fun to see how food is made.

Sometimes, the farmers would even let us try homemade cheese or fresh bread.

The small towns, like San Gimignano and Montepulciano, have narrow streets and friendly people.

Our adventure began in Palermo, the capital city.

Another fun part of our trip was exploring the ancient ruins at the Valley of the Temples.

My kids were amazed by the tall columns and the stories behind them.

We took lots of pictures, trying to copy our favorite poses from the past.

It felt like we were traveling back in time to the days of the ancient Greeks and Romans.

The sunset over the ruins was stunning, with colors that looked like a painting!
